Eagle-eyed Wrexham fans spot why Phil Parkinson was left unhappy with Ollie Palmer vs Bristol Rovers

Wrexham managed to continue their unbeaten run when they travelled to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

The Red Dragons were looking to overtake Birmingham City when they faced a side at the bottom end of the table.

Though they dropped points last time out, Phil Parkinson only made one change to his Wrexham starting eleven for Saturday’s clash.

Andy Cannon came into the midfield with star man George Dobson dropping out for the first time this season – barring his enforced one-match ban.

Wrexham dominated the early stages of the game with Ollie Palmer among the away players to create chances.

The opening goal of the tie came 17 minutes in after Matty James, who only signed a new contract a couple of days ago, played a sensational ball through to Elliot Lee to make it 1-0.

Lee was injured for Wrexham vs Bristol Rovers less than 20 minutes later but that was not the main talking point from the first 45.

Ollie Palmer left Phil Parkinson unhappy vs Bristol Rovers

Parkinson started with a front two of Lee and Palmer for the sixth league game in a row.

The latter has not produced much on the goal front this season, scoring just three in 20 before the weekend.

But his physical presence and ability to hold up the ball makes him a valuable asset despite his lack of goals.

However, eagle-eyed Wrexham fans spotted one moment during the meeting at the Memorial Stadium that left Parkinson unhappy.

The incident came in first-half injury time and saw the striker shown a yellow card after protesting with the referee following a foul being awarded against him.

Palmer had no reason to do so and the silly decision from the number nine left Parkinson unhappy.

Phil Parkinson has big decision to make after Bristol Rovers vs Wrexham

After Rovers, Wrexham are back in League One action on December 26th against Blackpool.

And Parkinson now has a big call to make following the injury to Lee early in the clash.

Dobson will likely come back into the side as the most advanced midfielder of the trio but who starts up front remains to be seen.

Wrexham have a number of striking options but none of them are in great goalscoring form right now.

Mullin and Steven Fletcher played well as a pairing in the second half versus Cambridge, while the former and Palmer could rekindle their long-time partnership for a full 90 next week.
