Wrexham have slipped up on the road once again and the manner of Tuesday’s defeat at Doncaster Rovers will leave some fans incredibly frustrated.
Phil Parkinson took his side to South Yorkshire on Tuesday night, seeking to add to Friday’s 2-0 win over Mansfield Town.
That game was hyped up so much and Wrexham got over the line with a massively important victory.
Sadly, this clash with Doncaster ended up being a case of ‘after the Lord Mayor’s show’ as Wrexham fell flat.
Doncaster opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time as Owen Bailey found the net – and that proved to be the winner.
Wrexham couldn’t get back into the game and slipped to yet another away defeat, leaving fans frustrated having missed out on a golden chance.
This was one of Wrexham’s two games in hand over MK Dons and Wrexham missed the opportunity to open up a five-point gap.

No Wrexham fan is expecting to win every single game, but these problems away from home have been present all season.
Falling flat in another away game won’t exactly inspire confidence of a result at Colchester United this weekend.
The really worrying part of Tuesday’s defeat was that Wrexham only managed one shot on target – and it came in the 98th minute.
Thimothée Lo-Tutala produced a stunning save to keep out Steven Fletcher’s late header, but that was the only major work the Doncaster goalkeeper had to do.
Managing just one shot on target is not a recipe to win games and Parkinson’s approach to the game will again be questioned after a toothless Wrexham performance.
Promotion still in Wrexham’s hands
Yes, this defeat is so deflating and it feels like a case of one step forward with the win over Mansfield and two steps back with the defeat at Doncaster.
The fact remains that promotion is still in Wrexham’s hands.
Four wins from the last five games will be enough to send Wrexham up barring a stunning turnaround in the goal difference.
Wrexham just have to stay the course and keep calm with the end of the season now so close.
Wrexham can only control their own results and having full control of an automatic promotion spot is a great place to be in – even after a defeat.
Tuesday’s win has reduced the margin for error but Wrexham still have the quality in the locker to make this a special end to the season.
