Rob McElhenney has admitted that his father predicted James McClean would score for Wrexham against Morecambe on Saturday afternoon.
Wrexham headed back on the road again on Saturday afternoon, travelling up to the Mazuma Stadium to take on Morecambe.
Away form has been a problem for Wrexham this season and fans may have had a sinking feeling with Ged Garner putting the hosts in front after just four minutes.
Wrexham didn’t sink though and equalised through James McClean before really kicking on after the break.
Yes, Max Melbourne’s red card helped Wrexham, but playing against 10 men can be difficult and Wrexham put the game away.
Paul Mullin’s penalty put Wrexham ahead before Steven Fletcher wrapped up a 3-1 win with a fine header.
Rob McElhenney on James McClean goal
McClean’s goal really put Wrexham on track and that was the 34-year-old’s third strike of the season.
Add in an assist for Fletcher’s goal and this was a superb day for McClean, whose success was seemingly predicted by Rob McElhenney’s father.
That’s right, the Wrexham co-owner has taken to social media to share a message he received from his dad on Saturday morning.
McElhenney claims that his father messaged him saying ‘McClean will score today’ – yet in all caps and at 5am.
That prediction ended up coming true and Wrexham then followed up McClean’s leveller with two more goals and a huge three points.
Most of Wrexham’s promotion rivals won too, so it was imperative that McClean and co turned around that early deficit.
There are more big games to come and Wrexham will be desperately seeking victories to try and secure promotion to League One.
Let’s just hope that McElhenney’s father can make a few more correct prediction in the coming weeks with a big prize on offer.
