Wrexham were held to a frustrating 2-2 at Cambridge in their latest fixture in the League One promotion race.
Phil Parkinson’s side got off to the perfect start as Wrexham’s star on the night George Dobson gave the Red Dragons an early lead with a stunning strike from 25 yards out.
Cambridge then seized momentum with goals either side of half time, including a penalty following a foul from Lewis Brunt, meaning that Wrexham were chasing the game.
Parkinson praised Ryan Longman and Sam Smith for their roles in the equaliser as Smith got the away side back in the game before a moment of controversy right at the death.

Ryan Longman delivers verdict on ‘massive’ Wrexham decision
Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel after the game, Longman gave his verdict on Wrexham’s disallowed goal at the end of the game.
Eoghan O’Connell thought he had snatched a last minute winner from a corner, only for the linesman to indicate that the corner had gone out of play on delivery.
Longman stated: “It’s a massive decision at the end there to say it’s out of play because it’s the game winner isn’t it, so yeah the lads are obviously just disappointed.”
The wing back then reflected on his side’s performance and believes that Wrexham did not capitalise on a good opening spell in the game.
Longman explained: “Well first twenty minutes I thought we could have got two or three goals there but obviously just the one and then they obviously got their goal and it was a poor goal to concede.”
Phil Parkinson appalled by ‘bizarre’ decision
Longman was not the only one disappointed with the dramatic disallowed goal as his manager came out firing speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel post match.
Parkinson stated: “The referee’s (Thomas Parsons) performance tonight, to say I’m raging is one of the biggest understatements in my 1,000 games,
“That penalty decision is one of the worst penalty decisions I’ve seen, similar to the Reading one, and to disallow the goal at the end is completely bizarre.”
With Wycombe also drawing 0-0 with Shrewsbury the result still leaves the Red Dragons in second place and in the driving seat with six games to go.
Burton visit the Racecourse Ground next up and Parkinson will be hoping his players use their frustration to put on a show and get back to winning ways.
