Wrexham have clinched back-to-back promotions and will start next season in League One after beating Forest Green Rovers 6-0 at the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham fans knew that this could be the day as a win and favourable results elsewhere would be enough for promotion.

Phil Parkinson’s men had to focus on doing their own job though and did so in style.

Wrexham were 4-0 up by half time as Elliot Lee, Paul Mullin and a Ryan Inniss own goal all found the net before Mullin added another.

Ryan Barnett’s second goal in a matter of days made it 5-0 before Jack Marriott finally found his first goal for the club to seal a 6-0 victory.

Events at Stadium mk were being tracked intently by Wrexham fans and with MK Dons losing 4-1 to Mansfield Town, Wrexham’s return to League One – after 19 years away.

Ryan Reynolds reaction

This is a dream come true for Wrexham supporters, but also for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Wrexham’s co-owners have backed the club brilliantly in recent years and back-to-back promotions is just rewards for their superb work.

Reynolds has now taken to social media to react and it’s fair to say that he is pretty emotional.

Reynolds joked that the only person who could have told him that he would be crying tears of joy over Wrexham a few years ago was McElhenney himself.

The Canadian added that ‘this is the ride of our lives’ as he and McElhenney celebrate a second promotion inside a year.

Rob McElhenney reaction

McElhenney was a little more understated than Reynolds and took to social media to post just two words in response to Wrexham’s promotion.

‘No words’ said McElhenney, who added a red heart emoji to again show his love for Wrexham.

Wrexham fans everywhere will be celebrating and maybe even dreaming of a third straight promotion next season.

That would be a big ask, and would require a huge transfer window, but Wrexham have become the club where dreams can come true.

Wrexham do still have a chance to win the League Two title but will require a few slip-ups from leaders Stockport County, who also secured promotion this afternoon.
