Wrexham were beaten by big hitters Birmingham City on Monday night and Paul Mullin was involved in an incident that has since gone viral.
Wrexham were outclassed by a far superior Birmingham outfit as the hosts secured a 3-1 victory.
Phil Parkinson’s side did start the brightest and when Jack Marriott scored inside three minutes, they were dreaming of taking a huge scalp in the division.
Unfortunately, Marriott’s goal appeared to wake up the beast in Birmingham, as they produced an emphatic comeback with Jay Stansfield scoring twice and Tomoki Iwata netting the third.
It was a difficult night for Wrexham, who tasted their first league defeat of the season, while striker Paul Mullin almost got the taste of a Birmingham player’s leg.

Paul Mullin responds to incident with Alex Cochrane in Birmingham City vs Wrexham
Mullin came off the bench on the hour mark and injected a fresh impetus into the Wrexham attack, as they looked a bit more threatening in the closing stages.
The 29-year-old was also involved in a key incident in the match as Mullin and Birmingham player Alex Cochrane got into an altercation, with replays appearing to show the former seemingly considering sinking his teeth into the latter’s leg before pulling back.
A video of the Wrexham striker with Cochrane’s leg close to his mouth has since gone viral on social media but Mullin has since cleared up any claims that he was going to bite his leg.
Parkinson’s hitman posted a hilarious response on X, claiming that Cochrane’s leg was ‘thinking about attacking his mouth’.
Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds – who couldn’t be in attendance for the game – also replied with the hashtag Welshpool and two laughing emojis.
Paul Mullin is lucky that VAR doesn’t exist in League One
Most supporters in the Football League are thankful that VAR doesn’t exist, as Mullin could have easily seen red for this incident.
That would depend on how the VAR and the fourth official see the incident but it is a moment of stupidity from the Wrexham striker, as while he doesn’t sink his teeth into the leg, he does think about it.
On this occasion, Mullin is thankful that his intrusive thoughts didn’t take over, otherwise, we could have had another Luis Suarez incident on our hands.
Nonetheless, Wrexham will dust themselves down following their first league defeat of the season and will want to bounce back at home to Crawley Town on Saturday.
