Wrexham fans give brutal verdict on one player following moment against Bolton Wanderers in League One stalemate

Wrexham produced an excellent second half display but couldn’t find the break through in a frustrating 0-0 draw.

It was a tight, tense affair in the first half with the only real moment of quality coming when Ryan Longman produced an excellent cross only for Sam Smith to miss the target with his header.

Longman starred in the Wrexham player ratings whilst it was a struggle in midfield for the returning Matty James as creativity was once again a problem for Phil Parkinson’s side.

Wrexham piled on the pressure in the second half of the game but couldn’t find the all important winner, their best opportunity fell to Thomas O’Connor and it is one the defender won’t want to see again.

Wrexham fans react to Thomas O’Connor’s miss against Bolton

Early in the second half, the ball fell to defender O’Connor unmarked and just five yards from goal. However, leaning back, the ball was blazed over the bar and with that went Wrexham’s chance of a vital three points.

It was the best moment of the game for the Red Dragons and fans have taken to X to react to the missed opportunity, one fan wrote: “Ryan Longman was impressive for Wrexham but Thomas O’Connor will not want to watch his glaring open-goal miss again.”

Another fan wrote: “Oh my days how has O’Connor missed that? We are knocking on the door. Longman and Revan are phenomenal today.”

The frustration continued among the Red Dragons following and they cannot help to wonder how costly the miss may prove to be, one fan simply wrote: “Dreadful miss.”

Wrexham now without home league win in last four games

After turning the Racecourse Ground into such a fortress in recent seasons, Wrexham now are without a home league win in four games.

The last victory came in a 1-0 at home to Peterborough United at the start of January and whilst away form has improved with three consecutive victories, Parkinson will want to find that solidarity at home once again.

An away trip to Huddersfield is up next for the Red Dragons before they then welcome Rotherham to North Wales.

With Wycombe losing away at league leaders Birmingham, Wrexham now sit just two points off the automatic promotion places but will want to return to winning ways at home as soon as possible.
