Wrexham’s push for promotion continues on Tuesday evening with a trip to take on in-form Doncaster Rovers at the Eco-Power Stadium.
Friday afternoon saw Wrexham claim a huge victory, beating Mansfield Town 2-0 at the STōK Cae Ras.
Paul Mullin’s brace – one from close range and one from the penalty spot – saw Wrexham claim an enormous three points.
Mansfield were top of the table before Friday’s game and the victory felt like a huge step towards promotion to League One.
Results went Wrexham’s way on Monday afternoon and a win at Doncaster would put Wrexham five points clear of MK Dons.
Rovers are in decent form though having won four games in a row and seven of the last 10, so this will be another tricky game.
The end of the season is in sight but Wrexham have a job to do; four wins from six would be enough to get over the line thanks to a superior goal difference.
Phil Parkinson will be weighing up his side for the trip to Yorkshire and may be considering changes after Friday’s hard-fought victory.
Wrexham predicted lineup v Doncaster Rovers
The goalkeeper is fairly simply as Arthur Okonkwo will surely start again, barring any late injury or illness.
The Arsenal loanee has been a mainstay of the side and certainly won’t be dropped any time soon.
Wrexham appear to have a settled back three right now and changes against Doncaster seem unlikely.
Max Cleworth was outstanding against Mansfield and has earned huge praise for his performance.
Eoghan O’Connell and Will Boyle provide experience alongside Cleworth and seem likely to start again this evening.
Luke Bolton impressed at right wing back against Mansfield and even though Ryan Barnett is back, Bolton is likely to keep his place.
On the left side, James McClean started on Friday and may well keep his place there.
However, if Jacob Mendy is fit enough to start, McClean may be moved into midfield with Mendy taking the left wing back spot.
News on Mendy’s injury has been thin on the ground in recent days and we can only assume that he won’t be ready to start.
That limits Parkinson’s ability to switch up the midfield with both Andy Cannon and Elliot Lee potentially needing rests after playing so many minutes.
George Evans is only just back in the squad and that may mean that Cannon and Lee have to start again tonight, joining Thomas O’Connor in midfield.
The connection between Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer is well-known at this point but Parkinson does tend to rotate Palmer.
That means Steven Fletcher may be primed to come into the side this evening with Palmer’s minutes being managed for the run-in.
