Wrexham host Colchester United in League Two this afternoon.

Wrexham are back in League Two action and this afternoon where they welcome a struggling Colchester United side to the Racecourse Ground.

Phil Parkinson‘s men are currently sitting in 2nd place of the table but find themselves six points behind leaders Stockport County, with a game in hand as the chasing pack keeps the heat on Wrexham and Barrow in joint-second.

Colchester meanwhile are right down in 22nd and sit a staggering 17 points behind the Dragons, after what’s been a dire season so far Matty Etherington’s side.

Wrexham go into this game on the back of a 3-2 EFL Trophy defeat at home to Burton Albion last time, but the Welsh club have now lost just one of their last 11 in League Two.

The latest Wrexham team news

Parkinson is struggling on the injury front right now, with Rob Lainton the latest to be ruled out for a significant period of time.

He’s had knee surgery and faces four months on the sidelines, with Arthur Okonkwo also remaining out with a jaw injury.

Elsewhere, all of Ryan Barnett, Eoghan O’Connell, Steven Fletcher, Anthony Forde, Aaron Hayden, and Jordan Tunnicliffe remain sidelined.

How will Phil Parkinson line up today?

With a return to league duties on the cards, expect Parkinson to return to a full strength XI; possibly the same XI that we saw draw at Harrogate at the end of last month.

Mark Howard will keep his spot in goal given the injuries in the goalkeeping department, whilst the likes of 34-year-old James McClean will return to the side, along with names like Ollie Palmer and Ben Tozer.

Here’s how we expect Wrexham to line up against Colchester United today:

Howard (GK)

McClean

O’Connor

Tozer

Hayden

Mendy

Lee

Evans

Cannon

Mullin

Palmer
