A mouth-watering clash awaits on Friday afternoon as Wrexham host Mansfield Town at the top of League Two.
Wrexham are looking to go level on points with leaders Mansfield by beating them on Good Friday.
The Reds know that, while a victory would make them strong favourites for the title, a defeat would leave them six points behind.
Phil Parkinson‘s men will be oozing with confidence after dispatching Grimsby Town 3-1 while Mansfield dropped points at home to Colchester United.
The magnitude of this game is massive and Parkinson will welcome back a massive player after James McClean completed his two-match suspension.
In less positive news, though, the promotion chasers could be without left wing-back Jacob Mendy with the Wrexham boss noting he picked up a slight hamstring problem last weekend.
Mendy has been in great form and if he isn’t deemed fit enough to play, his energy and dynamism down the left flank will be a huge miss.
It’s billed to be the biggest match of the season for both sides, so here’s how Wrexham could lineup…
Wrexham predicted XI v Mansfield Town
Arsenal loanee Arthur Okonkwo will be looking to get a second piece of silverware under his belt after winning the Austrian Cup with Sturm Graz last term. The young shot-stopper could be called into action a few times against Mansfield’s deadly attack.
Parkinson has a settled defence to choose from with Max Cleworth, Eoghan O’Connell and Will Boyle forming a strong partnership at the back. The visitors will test them, though, with Davis Keillor-Dunn, Will Swan and Lucas Akins aiming to wreak havoc.
Looking to provide energy and dynamism down the right flank is Luke Bolton, who continues in the place of Ryan Barnett, while the “brilliant” McClean could return to his left wing-back role in place of Mendy.
Not only for his versatility in this Wrexham side but for his technical attributes and dogged determination, McClean was missed in the last two matches.
With the Irishman available for selection, it wouldn’t be a shock to see him start in midfield if Mendy is fine, although the trio of Tom O’Connor, Andy Cannon and Elliot Lee were excellent against Grimsby.
Providing a perfect blend of tenacity, determination and quality in the engine room, Parkinson could remain unchanged unless he fancies throwing McClean back in for one of O’Connor or Lee.
Wrexham’s forward line will always consist of Paul Mullin and given his excellent record next to his strike partner, Ollie Palmer should keep his place in such a big game.
