Wrexham return to the Racecourse Ground for a League One meeting with Peterborough United on January 4th.

The Red Dragons kicked off their 2025 in unwanted fashion, continuing their struggles on the road to lose 2-1 to Barnsley.

That defeat saw Wycombe Wanderers overtake Wrexham in the League One table, now sitting top of the division with two more points and a game in hand.

Birmingham City also have two games more to play this season, leaving the Welsh outfit with a mountain to climb if they’re to get back into the automatic spots.

However, Wrexham are unbeaten at home in 19 matches and Wednesday’s loss was their first since November.

Peterborough United, meanwhile, are 18th in the division and winless in their last four.

Wrexham team and injury news vs Peterborough United

Elliot Lee, Lewis Brunt and Modou Faal all missed Barnsley versus Wrexham in midweek.

Parkinson provided an update on the Wrexham trio following that game, which was not great.

He said: “Mo Faal was ill this morning in the hotel, that was a shame. Elliot [Lee] felt his hamstring after his substitute appearance on the 29th and Brunty [Lewis Brunt] has got a slight calf injury.”

It’s yet to be confirmed if they are ready to return at the weekend but Lee and Brunt do look to be doubts.

Elsewhere, Arthur Okonkwo was on the bench in the club’s last two matches and could be in line for a start this weekend.

Callum Burton, Jack Marriott, and James Jones are all long-term absentees and won’t be involved against Peterborough.

Wrexham predicted lineup vs Peterborough United

With Brunt potentially absent once more, there could be another change at the back.

Parkinson praised Thomas O’Connor following his display against Barnsley but summer signing Dan Scarr may come into the eleven in his place this weekend.

Scarr hasn’t featured in Wrexham’s last nine League One ties but is surely set for a rare runout on January 4th.

Further forward, Ollie Palmer was poor against Barnsley, with Steven Fletcher improving the Red Dragons massively when he replaced him at half-time.

The 37-year-old may no longer be able to complete 90 minutes, but Fletcher must come into the eleven in place of Palmer on Saturday.
