One Wrexham signing stunned many Red Dragons fans with one trait that nobody expected from him.

Wrexham suffered a defeat to Southampton on the opening day of the Championship season.

After going into the interval with a 1-0 lead, courtesy of a Josh Windass goal on his Red Dragons debut, Phil Parkinson’s side looked to be closing in on a famous win at St Mary’s.

Unfortunately, Ryan Manning levelled up the game from a superbly-hit free kick, and then Southampton captain Jack Stephens grabbed the winner in the dying minutes, meaning that Wrexham left their Championship opener with zero points.

Despite Wrexham’s loss to Southampton, there were plenty of positives to take from the contest, especially after the performances put on by six of the new Red Dragons signings, who started from the off.

One player in particular took many by surprise, especially after showing one quality that not many expected from him.

What Wrexham signing Kieffer Moore showed on his debut vs Southampton

Phil Parkinson opted to start Kieffer Moore in the opening Championship tie against Southampton, and immediately, Wrexham fans were treated to a brilliant performance by the Welshman.

Many were aware of Moore’s ability to hold up the ball and cause havoc as an aerial threat, but he also proved to be phenomenal with the ball at his feet.

On several occasions, we saw Moore pick up the ball and drive into dangerous areas, showing a surprising level of pace to kick away from the Southampton defence.

Wrexham’s goal indeed came from a penalty that stemmed from a swashbuckling run into the Southampton box by Moore, who was eventually brought down inside the box.

Kieffer Moore and Josh Windass have proven to be a phenomenal strike partnership

Whilst Wrexham fans will be keen to not get ahead of themselves, many can admit, despite the end result at St Mary’s, that the Red Dragons duo of Kieffer Moore and Josh Windass could be formidable this season.

The two Wrexham forwards arrived with vast Championship experience and vast goalscoring ability, but they managed to link up superbly, especially in the first half of the contest.

Moore was handed a worrying verdict by Sheffield United fans about his abilities, but Wrexham supporters will now be confident that he, as well as Windass, work perfectly in Phil Parkinson’s set-up.
