Arthur Okonkwo made a very promising start to life at Wrexham last night, as the Red Dragons ran out 1-0 winners over Newcastle United U21s.
Okonkwo was brought in by Phil Parkinson on a season long-loan on deadline day, with the void of Ben Foster being filled following his announcement to retire.
The towering 6’6” goalkeeper has been with Arsenal’s academy since 2009 and has represented the Club in the EFL Trophy.
It was during this very competition that he made his first team debut for Wrexham and he looked more than comfortable between the sticks.

Arthur Okonkwo makes Wrexham debut
Parkinson opted for the English goalkeeper from the off and was rewarded with a solid performance.
The 21-year-old kept a clean sheet, made two saves and was relatively unphased throughout the entirety of the fixture.
He also makes it one game, one win – thanks to a Sam Dalby strike on 13 minutes which was the only goal of the game.
He had one potential moment of weakness, where he received a yellow card for handling the ball outside his area – but it did look dubious as to whether he was even outside the box.
A fantastic start for him and hopefully a sign of things to come/
Okonkwo is just getting started
The Arsenal loanee made a bright start and evidently wants to be successful with the club this season/
On signing for Wrexham, he said: “I know that the Club had a great season last year, and it’s good to see how the Club has a plan to progress up the leagues.
“The passion the fans, the owners and the Club have to keep moving forward is really good.”
We can’t wait to see more of him in action!
