Wrexham are back in League One after scoring promotion on Saturday afternoon with a 6-0 hammering of Forest Green Rovers.
For the second time in the space of a year, Wrexham fans are celebrating promotion.
Wrexham went from the National League to League Two last year and will now start next season in League One.
Phil Parkinson’s men had to get the job done and then hope for a favour from Mansfield Town on Saturday.
The first part went incredibly well as Wrexham hammered Forest Green Rovers with Paul Mullin bagging a brace.
Elliot Lee, Ryan Barnett and Jack Marriott were also on the scoresheet with Ryan Inniss scoring an own goal too.
Wrexham fans will have been frantically checking their phones for updates from Mansfield Town’s trip to MK Dons.
Mansfield helped Wrexham over the line, beating MK Dons 4-1 to spark a huge pitch invasion at the STōK Cae Ras.
Accrington owner reacts to Wrexham promotion
The last couple of years have been a dream come true for Wrexham supporters, but not everybody is happy.
The arrival of two Hollywood celebrities at Wrexham has put a target on the club’s back and many want to see the club fail.
Those people didn’t have the best of weekends and Accrington chairman Andy Holt has now shared his reaction.
Holt has been vocal against Wrexham in the past and posted a message to Ryan Reynolds – which appeared to be a touch sarcastic on first glance – on social media.
“Congratulations Ryan, I honestly don’t know how you do it! Fabulous achievement,” said Holt. “Best of luck with the treble,” he added.
Holt has continued to talk about Wrexham this morning, highlighting that the club haven’t broken any rules.
However, Holt claims the the rules are ‘wrong’, presumably pointing to the money Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been able to put into Wrexham compared to others in League Two.
Who could join Wrexham in League One?
Stockport County have also booked their place in League One and are favourites to claim the League Two title.
Wrexham and County had quite the promotion fight in the National League back in 2022 and will now head into League One together.
Mansfield Town are in the box seat to claim the third automatic promotion spot, especially after beating nearest challengers MK Dons.
Crewe Alexandra, Barrow and Crawley Town are currently joining MK Dons in the play-offs but Doncaster Rovers are in red-hot form right now and sit just one point outside the top seven.
Gillingham, AFC Wimbledon, Walsall and Harrogate Town are all still hopeful of a late charge but will need results to go their way.
In terms of coming down from the Championship, Rotherham United have been relegated but the final two spots are anybody’s guess.
Six points separate second-bottom Sheffield Wednesday from 16th-placed Millwall with Huddersfield Town, Birmingham City, Stoke City, Queens Park Rangers, Plymouth Argyle and Blackburn Rovers in between.
Wrexham could have some massive games next season and fans can already start looking forward to some exciting away days in League One.
