Wrexham are on a remarkable journey with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds at the helm and Arthur Okonkwo is loving life at the STōK Cae Ras.

Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham squad will have a well-earned rest this weekend.

Whereas many clubs had games postponed in the last international break, that was not the case for Wrexham.

Wrexham fulfilled the clash with Shrewsbury Town over the last international break, racking up a 3-0 win at the STōK Cae Ras.

This time around, Wrexham’s meeting with Lincoln City has been postponed and Parkinson can give his players a break.

Parkinson will take stock of a hectic opening to the season, but a successful one with Wrexham sitting second in League One.

Arthur Okonkwo on Wrexham owners

Wrexham fans may still be pinching themselves right now.

Nobody could have predicted this rise just a few years ago and it has all come from the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds takeover.

The Hollywood starts have transformed Wrexham and impressed Arthur Okonkwo along the way.

Okonkwo joined Wrexham on loan from Arsenal in 2023 despite some personal doubts about the move.

The stopper ended up enjoying his time at Wrexham so much that he signed permanently over the summer.

Okonkwo has now spoken to Men in Blazers about Reynolds, admitting that it is ‘still weird’ when they speak.

Reynolds is a true global superstar and Okonwko still hasn’t fully adjusted to talking about football with him at Wrexham.

Okonkwo added that Reynolds and McElhenney are truly ‘amazing’ owners, praising them for giving Wrexham players all the support they could ever ask for at the STōK Cae Ras.

“It is weird, it’s still weird when he calls me,” said Okonkwo.

“It’s amazing. He’s so invested and he wants us to achieve, not only him, but Rob as well. He wants us to achieve everything we want to achieve and they support us in any way we need, anything we need.

“It’s so important to be so involved if you’re owners and not many clubs are like this. I think, for a club that’s on the way up and everything is going the way that they want, I think it’s so important to have owners like this, to be so connected and involved,” he added.

Okonkwo and Reynolds want promotion

Securing automatic promotion would be a huge achievement for Wrexham.

Three promotions in a row is just unheard of and Wrexham may well make it happen.

Okonkwo has admitted that he is eyeing another promotion this season and if that doesn’t happen, he will be looking to go again next season.

That is exactly the same stance as Reynolds, who suggested way back in April that he wants another promotion this season.

We are only in October and Wrexham have more than 35 league games still to play.

It’s a long slog, but if the last few years have taught Wrexham fans anything, it’s that it’s okay to dream from time to time; it might just come true.
