Wrexham have a tricky triple-header coming up with three major tests on the horizon for Phil Parkinson and co.

League One action is back for Wrexham this weekend with the international break coming to an end.

Wrexham went into the break with a 4-1 home win over Northampton Town before beating Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21’s 3-0 in the EFL Trophy.

That scratched an itch for many fans but the focus is certainly on League One action ahead of this weekend’s trip to face Rotherham United.

Millers boss Steve Evans is concerned about his side’s set piece defending ahead of facing Wrexham, something Phil Parkinson will be looking to exploit.

Wrexham then host Huddersfield Town in midweek before heading down to London to take on Charlton Athletic on the road.

Charlton Athletic look ahead to Wrexham clash

Wrexham will be fully focused on Rotherham but this three-game spell is a really tricky one for Parkinson and co.

The trip to Charlton – Parkinson’s former club – will be in the back of the mind and won’t really come into focus until after facing Huddersfield.

Charlton have a couple of tricky games of their own, hosting Stockport County this weekend before travelling to Barnsley in midweek.

The push to sell tickets for the Wrexham game is certainly on though and the Addicks have pked some fun at the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ series.

One Charlton fan has posted a photo of an advert from a screen at New Eltham station, south of The Valley.

The advert states ‘Welcome to London’, showing boss Nathan Jones in an almost exact replica of a ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ advert.

Charlton are clearly hoping to get fans into the stadium for Wrexham’s visit but some fans aren’t too impressed, believing that similar adverts won’t be seen for other fixtures.

That is the pull of Wrexham at the moment though with the buzz around Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds making Wrexham a big game for many fanbases.

Wrexham will certainly travel to London in numbers for the game against Charlton and will be looking for a big win in the English capital.

Phil Parkinson at Charlton Athletic

The game will see Phil Parkinson return to The Valley.

Parkinson became Charlton boss in 2008 having previously served as assistant to Alan Pardew, his former Reading colleague.

Charlton were relegated under Parkinson but decided to stick with him and reached the League One playoffs in 2010, only to lose out to Swindon Town in the semi-finals.

Parkinson was then axed by Charlton in January 2011, leaving with 44 wins in 114 games.

Addicks fans will give Parkinson a warm reception upon his return to South London, but the Wrexham boss will be all business in search of three points.
