Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson has opened up about George Evans and the decision to send him off against Colchester United.
It has been a great campaign so far for Wrexham which sees them firmly in the race for back-to-back promotions.
With Phil Parkinson in charge, the Reds have been in great form this season and currently sit in third place in League Two.
This weekend saw them welcome Colchester United to The Racecourse as they looked to secure consecutive wins.
Thanks to goals from Elliot Lee and an own goal, Wrexham took all three points despite a late U’s consolation goal. The game could have turned on a moment as George Evans was sent off by the referee on 26 minutes.

Despite already being on a yellow card, the official opted to give the Englishman a straight red.
What has Phil Parkinson said about George Evans?
Since signing for Wrexham from Millwall in the summer, Evans has been nothing short of superb in recent months.
It was frustrating seeing him sent off so early on, especially given how important he has been to the midfield three.
Speaking with Goal.com, Parkinson has opened up about Evans’ red card and the referee’s decision to dismiss him.
On the two challenges, the Reds boss said: “The first one, I didn’t think George should have gone in for that challenge. He has closed the lad down. The second one, I have only seen it from one angle so I can’t see whether there was contact.”
On second viewing, there is contact and although it is hard to say whether it is deserving of a straight red, it was certainly a second yellow.
Discussing the referee, Parkinson added: “If there was contact, it is disappointing but the less said about the referee the better. George has been brilliant for us and it is the first sending off of his career.”
On the highlights posted by the Wrexham YouTube channel, the commentary team were quite sure of the red card decision.
Given that Evans was already on a yellow card it was an ill-advised decision to lunge in for a tackle. Especially given his tackle was high and caught the opposition player on the ankle. He didn’t look like he believed the decision but it wasn’t the best challenge.
To be without Evans for three games will be tough and other players will have to step up but there is plenty of quality in this squad.
