Wrexham star, Elliot Lee has opened up about the club and the atmosphere around the dressing room at The Racecourse.

It has been a great season in League Two for Wrexham following their promotion from the National League. With Phil Parkinson in charge, the Reds have gone from strength to strength and currently sit in second spot.

In recent weeks, there has been some issues to overcome as two of the last three games have been played with ten men. It was first George Evans against Colchester United and then James Jones in the most recent clash.

Although that was the case, the Reds still managed to secure three points in both. They now sit in second place, just four points off the top of the league.

With all that being said, Elliot Lee has spoken out on the dressing room and the togetherness of the Wrexham squad.

What has Elliot Lee said?

Speaking with Leader Live, the star midfielder has given a peak behind the curtain at The Racecourse at what makes the side so successful. It was shown in ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ that the club was in unison across various matters.

The positivity that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have instilled has extended from the community to the pitch.

Discussing the unity in the squad, Lee said: “It is not just about the strength in depth in the squad. It is the characters we have as well and we are such a tight-knit bunch. That is so important.

“I have been in some bad changing rooms and I have been in some good changing rooms and this is probably the best one I have been in for togetherness. Good, honest lads who come in, have a laugh and work hard, and I think you see that out on the pitch.”

With the recent wins coming with ten men, the remaining players had to come together and help secure a hard-fought win.

Continuing, Lee added: “It does make a massive difference because if you are a close-knit bunch, you want to do that extra yard for your mate.

“The squad depth is amazing but the characters we have is a credit to the team.”

There is plenty of quality which is able to come into the side and have a positive impact. Just looking at the Swindon game, Paul Mullin didn’t even get on the pitch on the day. This saw James McClean start further forward and impress with his first Wrexham league goal.

Although it hasn’t been ideal to receive multiple red cards in recent weeks, the squad has pulled together to perform. This squad continues to defy expectations as League Two promotion looks increasingly likely week on week.
