Wrexham have enjoyed a great rise up the EFL since Ryan Reynolds agreed to purchase the club alongside co-owner, Rob McElhenney.
Rob McElhenney was inspired to buy Wrexham by Sunderland and the documentary they produced for Netflix.
The Always Sunny star then brought Ryan Reynolds into the fold and it’s been nothing but success from there.
Wrexham spent 15 years in the National League but after one season of heartbreak under Phil Parkinson, the Red Dragons were able to return to the EFL in 2022/23.
Rob and Ryan have since continued to back the club heavily, allowing them to climb up to League One, where they are once again fighting for promotion this season.
Reynolds has been praised for his role at Wrexham and the global success the club is now having.
But just how far can the American duo take a side that was still playing in the National League in 2023?

Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer issue ‘challenging’ Wrexham verdict
Wrexham have already seen a big jump in quality following their arrival in League One.
Teams like Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town are spending big money on top stars with experience at higher levels.
If the Red Dragons are to continue their fight for promotion and potentially even make it to the Premier League one day, Ryan and Rob will have to continue backing them heavily.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Rest is Football, meanwhile, Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have responded to an interesting question about Wrexham’s ceiling.
Shearer stated: “I think the answer to that is we’re not quite sure because of how far they’ll be able to go in terms of finance spending and all of that because of the PSR rules.”
Lineker responded: “Not only that and obviously the higher you go probably to compete with the top teams in the league the more you need to invest, it’s worked so far.
It depends, I suppose, on what their desires are, what their ambitions are to take it. I think they’re already taking one or two other clubs on in different parts of the world in a similar sort of TV project.
“I think once you get right up to the operations of say Premier League football, then it really does become more challenging.
“But it has been fascinating to watch and given a lot of people an interest and the TV side of it certainly worked and it’s been a good series to watch.
“I think Wrexham now probably because of that have got almost a global fan base I would imagine.”
Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer’s message to Ryan Reynolds
The pair also discussed Wrexham co-owner Reynolds, who had previously said he might come on The Rest is Football.
Shearer stated: “He did say Ryan that he might come on the podcast.”
To which Linekered stated: “He did, maybe it’s time. When there’s a new series coming out it’s probably the best time to try and get him on.
“We’ll promote it for him, we don’t mind that. Be great to have Ryan Reynolds on.”
There’s currently no release date in place for the next series of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, though it is likely to drop at some point in 2025.
