YouTuber Mark Goldbridge has sensationally claimed that Wrexham are more likely to win the Premier League before Tottenham Hotspur do.

In a podcast with former Wrexham goalkeeper Ben Foster, the presenter claimed that it is more likely that Wrexham reach the Premier League from League Two and win the title, before Spurs manage to win it.

Spurs have not won a title since 1961, and have not won a major trophy since 2008, whilst Wrexham achieved promotion from the National League last season, but this still feels like an outrageous claim.

“Who will win the Premier League first, Wrexham or Spurs? I’m not doing this to wind Spurs fans up. I genuinely think an intelligent person can see what I’m talking about,” he stated.

“Wrexham I’ve got a better chance of winning the title before Spurs. Yes it’s gonna take five or six years for Wrexham to go, they’re sponsored by TikTok, you played for them Ben (Foster)!

Foster then pointed out that Wrexham now have an even bigger sponsorship from United Airlines, meaning that the club have even more financial firepower.

Can Wrexham win the Premier League?

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet.

Whilst Wrexham tore the National League to shreds last season, it has been a slow start to life in League Two, with just one win from the opening five games.

Despite being pre-season favourites for promotion, Wrexham have not spent as heavily in the transfer window as previously anticipated, and a number of injury problems are halting the progress of Phil Parkinson’s side.

Whilst the aim of owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds may be to reach the Premier League, it may take longer than the five or six years predicted by Goldbridge, and the difficulty of the EFL should not be underestimated even with strong financial backing.
