Wrexham star, James McClean has admitted that he received an apology from Paul Mullin as he missed a chance before eventually scoring.
It was yet another League Two win this weekend for Wrexham as they played host to Wimbledon at The Racecourse.
The away side started the game the brighter as they had two great chances in the opening 20 minutes on the day.
The Reds ended the first the better and after the Dons missed a one-on-one, Phil Parkinson’s side woke up. After hitting the bar earlier in the second half, Steven Fletcher peeled off at the back post to tap home from a corner.
Just minutes later, the three points were secured as Paul Mullin took advantage of a loose ball in the box to slam the ball home. The Welshman had another chance not long after but his downward header bounced into the keeper’s hands.
On the day, James McClean grabbed an assist but may have been unlucky to have not had at least two.

Since joining Wrexham, it is safe to say that McClean has become one of the Reds’ better and most important players.
According to FotMob, he ranks as their third highest-rated player so far this campaign behind only Mullin and Elliot Lee.
Against the Dons, McClean got the assist for the opener as his corner was perfect as it picked out Fletcher at the back post. His finish was superb which matched the quality of the corner.
Shortly after, yet another cross from the Irishman narrowly missed Mullin’s head before the ball fell back to him to score. As it came off the defender, there would be no second assist for McClean which was disappointing for him.
Talking to Goal, he said: “Yeah he apologised and rightly so for not scoring the first one and giving me an assist. It helps as a wide player being able to put the ball in the box and to have that quality in the box.”
It must be said, with 11 crosses on the day it was made clear that he had hope for his forwards to score. Mullin may have had another and McClean may have had an extra assist.
This is only banter between the pair and it is great to see them have that, showing the unity within this Wrexham side.
The Irishman certainly made the difference on the day as he created both goals. His quality opened up the Dons’ backline and certainly allowed the Reds to win the game.
