Jordan Davies has been blown away by the impact Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have had at Wrexham.

In the modern era, it’s difficult to strike gold as far as ownership is concerned, with several EFL clubs finding themselves plunged into financial ruin – a feeling felt at Wrexham in years gone by.

Established Football League clubs such as Macclesfield Town and Bury went bust due to terrible ownership whilst League One rivals Bolton Wanderers and Championship side Derby County very nearly fell to a similar fate.

So, Wrexham supporters are feeling quite lucky that they have Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds at the helm, two owners who have completely transformed the football club.

Wrexham were stuck in the National League for over a decade till their Hollywood saviours came along and now, they’re celebrating back-to-back promotions.

It marks a couple of outstanding years for everyone associated with the club as on-field success has coincided with incredible progress off the pitch.

Jordan Davies left blown away by Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds

Wrexham midfielder Jordan Davies is the latest individual to give the Hollywood duo their flowers.

The 25-year-old – who featured 25 times in League Two last term – has embarked on a new business venture, joining the management team at the Croes Howell restaurant and bar in Wrexham.

Coming from the town itself, Davies understands the importance of improving the community and wants to add the hospitality industry to being a footballer.

During their time at Wrexham, McElhenney and Reynolds have understood the importance of community spirit – as shown in the Welcome to Wrexham series – and Davies claims the town has never been in a ‘better place’ because of them.

Speaking to The Leader, the Welshman said: “I almost get bored of saying thank you to Rob and Ryan.

“Obviously they understand but I don’t think they fully understand how much it has done for everyone.

“Look at the businesses and other stuff, it is amazing. The town has never been better in my opinion and that’s all thanks to Rob and Ryan.

“When the football was going bad, the town didn’t feel great and now the football has picked up, the town has really picked up so I am very proud.”

Jordan Davies’ future at Wrexham assessed

Davies only started twice in the league last season.

Phil Parkinson has a stacked midfield full of quality options, so the left-footed maestro found it difficult to usurp the likes of James McClean, Elliot Lee, George Evans and Andy Cannon for a place in the side.

With Wrexham also showing an interest in Brighton midfielder Marc Leonard, this pushes Davies further down the pecking order heading into next season.

Given his contract expires in 2025 and he’s embarking on a business venture in his hometown, it’s highly unlikely he’ll leave the club anytime soon.

But, depending on how involved he is next season, Parkinson could have a big decision to make in the summer of 2025.
