The League Two promotion race has taken even more twists and turns this afternoon as Wrexham look to secure a passage to League One.
The international break is upon us and seeing Wales rack up a superb win on Thursday night will have put Wrexham fans in great spirits for the trip to Grimsby Town.
League Two football doesn’t stop for the international break, so Wrexham fans, players and staff made the near-three-hour trip over to Lincolnshire in the hope of seeing a marked improvement.
One point from two home games against Harrogate Town and Tranmere Rovers left many Wrexham fans fearing that the promotion push would take a wrong turn.
Wrexham get it right on the road as promotion push continues
Away days have been tricky for Wrexham this season but this wasn’t one of them as Phil Parkinson’s men simply blew the Mariners away at Blundell Park.
Andy Cannon’s brace had Wrexham flying before Paul Mullin effectively kills the game off with a third before the half-time whistle blew.
Arthur Gnahoua’s late consolation didn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, but will have served as a frustration for Wrexham’s back line as they came so close to a clean sheet.
A win is just what Wrexham needed, so let’s check in on how the rest of the promotion-chasers fared this weekend…

Mansfield Town drop points
Leaders Mansfield Town kicked off the day with an early kick-off, hosting Colchester United at Field Mill.
The Stags could only muster a draw as Lewis Brunt rescued a point for Mansfield, cancelling out Harry Anderson’s opener with a second-half leveller.
Nigel Clough’s side remain top of the table, but their lead is down to just two points…

Stockport County thrash Milton Keynes Dons
That is because Stockport County found their shooting boots and absolutely destroyed fourth-placed Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday evening.
The Hatters have been up and down for a while now but produced an absolutely clinical display against the Dons.
Callum Camps, Paddy Madden and Isaac Olaofe scored to put County 3-0 up by the break before Connor Lemonheigh-Evans and Neill Byrne added to the scoreline.
The Dons had 65% of possession but were absolutely thrashed 5-0 in a result which may actually help Wrexham.
Sure, Stockport immediately moved back above Wrexham but the result leaves the Dons three points behind despite having played a game more.
Add in that Wrexham have a much better goal difference – especially after such a heavy defeat today – and it’s basically four points.

Crewe Alexandra slip up again
Crewe are now fading out of the picture a little as they drew 1-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.
Rio Adebisi secured a point for Crewe as they hit back after John-Kymani Gordon’s early opener.
That is just four points taken from the last five games for Crewe, who now sit five points adrift of Wrexham.
Crewe aren’t out of the mix just yet but they need to get back on track quickly if they still have aspirations of a top-three finish.
