Morecambe appear to be blocking Disney from filming this weekend’s game against Wrexham.

We have become used to seeing Wrexham as worldwide news these days.

The takeover from Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds has turned Wrexham into the perceived ‘Hollywood club’.

Part of that rise is the documentary series ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, which has put the Reds on TV screens across the globe.

Many fans – even those not of a Wrexham persuasion – have enjoyed watching the series, feeling a real connection not just to the club, but also the city.

Not everybody is on board with the documentary though, and it seems that this weekend’s opponents Morecambe may just fit into that category…

Wrexham head to Morecambe this weekend, hoping to finally find some positivity away from home.

The away form has been a real disappointment this season and a win at the Mazuma Stadium this weekend would be an enormous boost.

However, the game seemingly won’t be featured on ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ any time soon as Morecambe aren’t too keen on the idea.

Commentator Dave Salmon has suggested on the Shrimps Verdict Podcast that Morecambe have been contacted by Disney TV executives with a view to filming Saturday’s game.

Morecambe have, according to Salmon, put the block on the idea though and won’t want the distractions around the game.

“I don’t think we’re allowing the cameras on Saturday,” said Salmon. “From what I can gather, we had a call from a top exec at Disney and they obviously asked if they could bring their cameras and they wanted them in the dressing room and in the tunnel, here, there and everywhere and we said no, we just want to concentrate on the game, which I suppose is the club’s prerogative to do that,” he added.

Morecambe are well within their rights to say no in this situation and Disney certainly won’t be lacking in content for episodes.

Wrexham and Disney may be a little disappointed though as the more footage they can get during the end-of-season run in, the better.

Wrexham could end the season with promotion and Disney understandably want to show as much of that as they possibly can.

Morecambe aren’t all that interested though, focusing on their own push for the League Two play-offs rather than being flooded with Disney cameras this weekend.
