Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have now been thanked for their donation to Oldham Athletic owner Frank Rothwell.
During their time at Wrexham, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have transformed the club on the pitch.
Of course, they won promotion from the National League last term, but they’ve also earned praise for the work they’ve done off the pitch.
The two Hollywood superstars are known for making charitable donations. Only this week they left a family in tears after donating £10,000 to a disabled four-year-old Wrexham fan.
And they’ve now they’ve made the headlines once more after donating £1,600 to Frank Rothwell’s fundraising campaign prior to the 73-year-old taking on an Atlantic Ocean rowing challenge.
The Oldham Athletic chairman has completed an epic 3,000-mile row across the Atlantic Ocean, raising more than a quarter of a million pounds for Alzheimer’s UK.
He set off from the Canary Islands on 12 December and finally arrived in Antigua two months after embarking on the challenge.
Moments after finishing, Frank thanked the Wrexham owners for their donating to the cause, claiming it has given what he’s done credibility.

Speaking shortly after completing the challenge, he said via X: “This is what I’d like to say to Ryan and Rob. Thank you so much for donating. You have given what I’ve done credibility.
“I wish Wrexham all the best and I hope they get promoted because we don’t want to play you again next year!”
The Oldham chairman expressed his gratitude for the Hollywood stars and will be forever grateful for those who committed much-needed funds to a good cause, although he admitted he doesn’t want to play Wrexham again next season.
Frank Rothwell doesn’t want Oldham to play Wrexham
Oldham are currently sixth in the National League table and a whopping 32 points behind leaders Chesterfield, so their best chance of winning promotion is through the play-offs.
Understandably, though, the prospect of playing Wrexham next season is a possibility that scares Frank.
After all, The Latics did lose all three of their meetings against the Red Dragons last term, as Phil Parkinson’s side prevailed by a combined score of 10-2 across the FA Cup and National League.
One of Oldham’s defeats was a 5-1 thrashing at the Racecourse Ground in the league as a Paul Mullin hat-trick sent Wrexham on their way to the title.
With the Reds firmly in the mix for promotion out of League Two, they are looking to make a step up of their own and Frank will be hoping that is the case.
