Wrexham have been on quite the journey in the last three years with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds completely revolutionising the club.
Many Wrexham fans can’t have even dreamt of back-to-back promotions just five years ago.
Wrexham had been stuck in the National League for years and League One was just a distant dream.
McElhenney and Reynolds have set the club on an entirely new path.
Now one of the most popular clubs around the world, Wrexham have grown massively with McElhenney and Reynolds in charge.
The ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ series has certainly helped, but Wrexham had to back it up with performances on the pitch.
Now preparing for a first League One campaign in 20 years, Wrexham’s rise has been incredible to witness.

Ollie Palmer on Ryan Reynolds
A mega-celebrity like Reynolds was always going to drive interest.
The Canadian is one of the most recognisable movie stars around and he has been driving force behind Wrexham’s increased popularity.
Reynolds always comes across well and has taken the Wrexham community into his heart whilst also promoting the club’s women’s team on a regular basis.
It’s clear that Reynolds is immensely loved and respected around Wrexham and striker Ollie Palmer has now added to that.
Palmer has been speaking on the Elvis Duran Show over in the United States and told a story about Reynolds.
Palmer noted that an injury kept him out of action this past season and that can be a lonely experience at times.
However, Reynolds made sure to send a message to Palmer, encouraging him to keep going in his recovery and his attempt to get back into the team, adding that he couldn’t wait to see him back in action.
Palmer admitted that messages like that mean ‘a lot’ coming from Reynolds, again showing the Wrexham co-chairman’s character and level of interest in the club.
“I got an injury during the season and then I couldn’t get back in the team for four or five weeks,” said Palmer. “You don’t hear from anyone when you’re not playing. You hear from everyone when you’re winning, scoring. This was this season, you’ll see it in the latest series.”
“In an amongst everyone, one person that did reach out about three weeks in saying ‘keep going, I can’t wait to see you back out there’, was Ryan. It means a lot, because think about that where you’re going through the bad times and people still reach out,” he added.
Palmer could face new competition
Palmer found his way back into the Wrexham side and rekindled his superb partnership with Paul Mullin.
The pair have caused no end of problems for defenders in the National League and League Two, so now it’s League One defences in their sights.
Palmer may well face new competition for a starting role at Wrexham though with new strikers on the radar.
Reports suggest that Phil Parkinson is looking to bring released Wigan Athletic duo Stephen Humphrys and Josh Magennis.
Magennis is a big, physical and experienced striker, so he would certainly be a signing who could eat into Palmer’s minutes next season.
Much will depend on Steven Fletcher’s future too, but with Palmer now entering the final year of his Wrexham deal, he may need to step it up again next term.
