Wrexham kicked off pre-season with a thumping 5-1 win over non-league side Hanley Town before heading to the United States.
The League One season is fast approaching and Phil Parkinson is looking to ramp up preparations for the new campaign.
Wrexham will be coming up against some major teams in League One – some of whom have even been in the Premier League in recent memory.
Birmingham City, Bolton Wanderers and Huddersfield Town spring to mind with all three offering tough competition for Wrexham.
It’s therefore pivotal that Wrexham recruit smartly and add real quality to Parkinson’s squad having accelerated from the National League to League One.
Wrexham have certainly done that, pulling off some impressive summer transfer business to improve Parkinson’s options.

Phil Parkinson on George Dobson
Wrexham announced two signings on Monday evening with goalkeeper Callum Burton and left wing back Sebastian Revan.
Those two signings add more depth to Parkinson’s squad and take the summer business to five incomings.
Earlier in July, Wrexham pounced with a deal to sign midfielder George Dobson on a free transfer.
A proven League One performer, Dobson decided to leave Charlton Athletic this summer and even scrapped a pre-contract agreement with Hungarian side Fehervar in favour of Wrexham.
Dobson represents a major signing for Wrexham and Parkinson – the man who coached him at Sunderland – is bound to have been a major factor.
Dobson featured for Wrexham for the first time on Saturday afternoon, playing an important role in a 5-1 thrashing of non-league side Hanley Town.
Parkinson was asked about Dobson’s performance and the Wrexham boss suggested that his new signing ‘did well’ in his start to pre-season.
Speaking on Wrexham’s official YouTube channel, Parkinson added that Dobson has been a great fit into the Wrexham squad in these early days of his career at the STōK Cae Ras.
“George did well, he’s fitted in really well with the lads during his first couple of weeks with us,” said Parkinson.
Dobson start eased by former teammates
It’s no surprise to hear that Dobson is settling in well at Wrexham.
Dobson already knew three players in the Wrexham squad very well having previously played with them.
Striker Ollie Palmer was one of Dobson’s teammates at AFC Wimbledon, whilst Dobson crossed paths with Elliot Lee at Charlton Athletic.
The main man for Dobson will be defender Eoghan O’Connell, given that the pair played together at both Walsall and Crewe Alexandra.
O’Connell has already hailed Dobson’s arrival and he will no doubt making the new signing feel right at home.
Having those familiar faces to lean on will have been so valuable for Dobson and it should mean that he settles in very quickly.
