Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson is positive that fans will warm to this one new signing in the second half of the season.

Wrexham ended a very quiet January transfer window with a couple of late signings in Jack Marriott and Luke Bolton.

The experienced Football League duo join on permanent deals and both will add quality and depth to the Dragons‘ ranks, as Parkinson vies to guide the club to a second-straight promotion.

And the Wrexham boss has hailed the club’s two new signings; Bolton especially, saying that fans ‘will enjoy watching him play’ after he signed a two-and-a-half year deal.

Parkinson told the club:

“Luke Bolton was someone we had been looking at for a while, he’s dynamic, he’s got pace, and he wants to get around the back of defenders. I think our supporters will enjoy watching him play.”

Luke Bolton, the story so far

Bolton, 24, rose through the ranks at Manchester City, but never made a first-team appearance for the club.

He spent time out on loan with the likes of Wycombe Wanderers, Luton Town, and Dundee United before sealing a permanent move to Salford City in the 2021/22 season, going on to make 92 total appearances for the Ammies, with six goals and 15 assists in that time; last season he scored six and assisted seven more from right-back.

And so far this season, Bolton had recorded five assists in 20 League Two outings for Salford City, arriving on a permanent deal at the Racecourse Ground and looking like a very exciting signing for the Dragons.

Why this is a huge signing for Wrexham

Wrexham seem to have quality all over the pitch now after signing Bolton.

He plugs a bit of a gap on the right and adds competition for the likes of Ryan Barnett, with Bolton’s versatility also set to be a huge plus; he can play as a more defensive-minded or more attacking-minded right-back, but given his goal contributions over the past season-and-a-half, Parkinson might prefer him as a wing-back.

Bolton adds yet more firepower and creativity to the ranks as Wrexham look to cement their place in the promotion places, and like Parkinson says, Bolton’s high-energy and daring style of play should have fans on the edge of their seats this season.

Wrexham go up against Bolton’s former club Salford City in League Two today, in what could prove to be a memorable debut for the Dragons’ new boy.

Kick off is at 3pm.
