Wrexham are back at the Racecourse Ground on August 23, taking on Sheffield Wednesday.

Rob Mac has earned praise ahead of the game following his gesture to the Owls’ Supporters Trust.

Wrexham are predicted to beat Sheffield Wednesday by two EFL pundits, finally seeing them win a second-tier game for the first time since 1982.

The Red Dragons are yet to win a match in 90 minutes this term, having lost both league outings and taking Hull City to penalties in the Carabao Cup.

Ahead of the match, Wrexham’s local police have issued a statement to fans.

Police statement ahead of Wrexham vs Sheffield Wednesday

Wrexham vs Sheffield Wednesday will take place at the Racecourse Ground at 3pm BST on Saturday.

Ahead of the tie, Wrexham police have issued a message on their Facebook page, urging fans to park correctly when travelling to the stadium.

They wrote: “Patrols will be in place across Wrexham City on Saturday, 23 August, as part of matchday policing arrangements.

“Kicking off at 3 p.m., the fixture between Wrexham AFC and Sheffield Wednesday will be the second Championship game played at the STōK Cae Ras stadium this season.

“Another capacity crowd is expected for the Bank Holiday Weekend match.

“Fans travelling by car are encouraged to use the Park and Ride service operating locally from Ruthin Road.

“Those who do not use the Park and Ride are asked to adhere to all road markings and cones, and to park responsibly and with respect for the club’s neighbours.”

The message comes as per Wrexham.com, ‘after a clamp down on illegal parking at the last home game.’

Wrexham Council addressed problem after Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s takeover

Ryan Reynolds and Mac’s takeover of the Dragons has seen interest in the football club grow.

But the added volume of fans caused Wrexham Council to take action at the end of 2024/25.

They confirmed back in mid-March that they were beginning a Park and Ride trial on matchdays to help address the issue of traffic.

Councillor David A Bithell stated at the time: “With the continued success of Wrexham AFC and an ever-increasing fan base wanting to attend home games, we have been working hard behind the scenes to address the issues associated with the demand for match day parking.

“I am pleased to announce that Wrexham Council has reached an agreement with Arriva North West & Wales to operate a dedicated shuttle bus service to complement the existing match-day parking facility that is available from our Ruthin Road site.

“Fans can benefit from free parking at the site, and will then be able to travel to and from the ground on a dedicated local bus service. Fares will be £2 for adults, £1.30 for children and young people, and concessionary passes will be accepted.”
