Season four of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ was another great success as Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds continue to tell the Wrexham story.

Welcome to Wrexham’ began with Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds setting the scene for their Wrexham journey after completing their £2million takeover.

After a slightly awkward introduction from Humphrey Ker and some time for Mac and Reynolds to learn the ropes, ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ became a global sensation.

Wrexham missed out on promotion from the National League in the first season under the Hollywood duo, but have now put together three promotion-winning campaigns.

These promotion-winning finales have become the standard for ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, with on-field success only driving even more interest in the documentary series.

Rob Mac reacts to more ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ success

‘Welcome to Wrexham’ has now won two more awards after the Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday.

The ‘Down To The Wire’ episode from season three of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ clinched the Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Reality Program and Outstanding Picture Editing For An Unstructured Reality Program awards.

Both of those were also won by ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ last year, but the Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program award proved elusive this time around.

Still, winning two more awards is great news and a sign of the technical brilliance from the team working on the show.

Rob Mac has now paid tribute to those members of staff as he sent a message on his Instagram story late on Monday night.

Mac praised the ‘incredible’ work by the team behind ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, branding them ‘amazing’ while hailing them for ‘continuing to bring the magic’.

‘Incredible work by our sound and editing teams this season to snag us TWO more Emmys,’ said Mac.

‘Thank you, Television Academy, and thank you to our amazing team for continuing to bring the magic,’ he added.

Expect more awards for ‘Welcome to Wrexham’

The awards were given for the final episode of season three, which documented Wrexham’s promotion-clinching victory over Forest Green Rovers.

This time next year, season four may just sweep the board, given the incredible speech delivered by Mac in the final episode.

Mac gave a deeply emotional speech to the Wrexham squad, encouraging them to visualise their younger selves and the moment they first realised they were good footballers.

Wrexham won every game from that point, and while Mac wouldn’t claim that his speech was the defining factor, his ability to connect should not be overlooked.

Ryan Reynolds praised Mac after that speech was shown on ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, and that moment alone may just provide some more awards down the line.
