Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds loved seeing Wrexham striker Paul Mullin get back in the goals against Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

Wrexham really needed a big performance on Saturday afternoon.

Disappointing performances at Gillingham and Forest Green Rovers left Wrexham needing to find an improvement.

What we saw was something pretty special as Wrexham absolutely blew Accrington away with a stunning first-half showing.

We wanted goals and to see the attack clicking and that’s what we got with Paul Mullin smashing a superb hat-trick.

The time between Mullin’s first goal and his third was just 18 minutes as he destroyed the Stanley back line.

Mullin then set up Elliot Lee to make it 4-0 in a breathless first-half showing before being able to take it a little easier after the back.

A late Lewis Shipley red card compounded the misery for Accrington as Wrexham moved back into the automatic promotion places.

This game will hopefully spark a real run of goalscoring form from striker Mullin.

Few Wrexham fans have ever really doubted Mullin’s ability, but this season has been difficult at times in terms of form and fitness.

Mullin recently went eight games without a goal but that hat-trick should get him right back on track.

Wrexham fans will be full of praise for Mullin tonight – and so are both Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

Wrexham’s co-owners both took to social media this afternoon in order to recognise Mullin’s brilliance.

McElhenney posted ‘Guess Paul is back to fitness’ whilst Reynolds simply stated ‘what a menace’.

We are reaching the crunch end of the season now and Mullin’s goals will certainly be vital.

Let’s hope we see more Mullin goals, celebrations and maybe even hat-tricks – and you can be sure that both McElhenney and Reynolds will be backing him to fire Wrexham to League One.
