Over the past few years, a continuous stream of achievements have flooded in at Wrexham.
Once Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds tookover in February 2021, the Hollywood owners outlined their ambitions to transform the Reds into a global force.
Their plans to do so were fast-tracked by the Welcome to Wrexham documentary, which has been an enormous success, as the cameras followed their journey to achieving consecutive promotions.
The documentary has helped place the Welsh side onto a global footing and attracted thousands of supporters from the United States, who will no doubt be excited to see their side in the flesh in pre-season.
Whilst that is a reality awaiting the Reds, who saw 110,000 spectators attend their four matches on their last trip to America, the documentary has been recognised for its artistic and technical merit.

The Welcome to Wrexham documentary has just finished season three and once more, it captured the hearts of match-going supporters and those who don’t have the privilege of attending matches.
Taking our screens by storm, the documentary received six Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program, Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Program, Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Sound Editing for a Nonfiction or Reality Program, and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Reality Program.
To come up against some of the best TV series on the planet and receive six nominations is an immense achievement, with McElhenney and Reynolds responding to this news via X.
The Hollywood duo left emotional messages, as Reynolds thanked his co-chairman for his ‘stunning and consistent effort’, while McElhenney was left ‘completely blown away’ by the news.
How Welcome to Wrexham can go to the next level
In May, Welcome to Wrexham was renewed for a fourth season at FX and will follow the next step of the journey as the Reds tackle League One.
The documentary has predominantly focused on the impact Reynolds and McElhenney have had on the town but to appeal to a new type of audience, perhaps there could be more emphasis on the football side, taking inspiration from Sunderland ‘Til I Die and the All or Nothing: Manchester City series.
The wider footballing world would want to see more on-the-pitch access, gaining an insight into what the players and Parkinson are saying during a match and in the dressing room.
Going further behind the scenes and offering more insight into the tactical side of proceedings would be interesting to watch while preserving what makes Welcome to Wrexham so unique.
