Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has now dropped a hilarious response to a quiz question involving him on social media.

Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds will be known by many in football as the financial muscle behind Wrexham’s rise into League One.

The Welsh side had the biggest budget in League Two and was, therefore, able to attract players such as Steven Fletcher and James McClean, the sort of talents other clubs at that level could only dream of signing.

McElhenney and Reynolds are classed as wealthy owners lower down the football league, though they’re known for more than just their wealth.

Since arriving in Wales, they’ve transformed the whole town and got everyone pulling in the same direction, with the Welcome to Wrexham documentary showing what a huge impact they’ve had.

They’ve also demonstrated how they’re willing to communicate with the supporters, both in person and on social media, which sets them apart from other football club owners.

The Hollywood duo are often seen leaving their thoughts on the game, as a fan would, whilst showcasing their humour.

Rob McElhenney drops hilarious response to Wrexham quiz question

McElhenney and Reynolds were mentioned in a quiz question on the ITV game show ‘The Finish Line’.

The question was “Who are Wrexham AFC’s owners” and the woman in question responded but couldn’t pronounce McElhenney’s surname properly, and instead said ‘Ryan Reynolds’ at the end.

This was brought to light by a supporter on X, formerly Twitter, who tagged McElhenney and the Wrexham co-owner dropped a hilarious response to the video that was posted.

The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star wrote: “Rob McElenineOrWhateverHisNameisRyanReynolds is on my birth certificate, so technically she’s correct.”

Wrexham’s popularity is growing even more

It wasn’t long ago that not many people knew who Wrexham were or what division they were playing in.

But fast forward a few years and the Reds are now in the third tier of English football and going viral on social media after appearing on a quiz show.

That is, of course, predominantly down to the arrival of their Hollywood owners but also the job Phil Parkinson has done to get Wrexham back into League One.

The 56-year-old has garnered mass praise for dragging a downtrodden football club into a force to be reckoned with and whilst he’s been helped by the riches of McElhenney and Reynolds, his tactical knowledge has equally inspired success.

Their popularity has grown even further and been placed on a wider scale due to the Welcome to Wrexham documentary as millions across the globe tune in to the award-winning series.

It’s a stark contrast to how they found the football club but the fact they’re now going viral on social media suggests how big they’re becoming.
