Rob McElhenney recently revealed one Wrexham player was banned from Las Vegas’ casinos and nightclubs on the team’s recent trip to the US.

It’s been an absolute fairytale journey for Wrexham fans since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the club back in 2020.

The Red Dragons narrowly missed out on promotion last season, but bounced back to win the National League this year with a record 111 points. It means they will be playing in the fourth tier of English Football next year after a 15-year hiatus.

To celebrate their success, the playing squad were recently treated to an all-expenses-paid end of season trip to Las Vegas, courtesy of Ryan and Rob.

Footage of the team living it up in Vegas went viral on social media. Players were spotted partying in Hakkasan Nightclub, clubbing with the likes of Steve Aoki, and relaxing poolside at the MGM Grand.

However, one member of Wrexham’s promotion-winning team had an entirely different experience. Rob McElhenney recently revealed that centre-back Max Cleworth was banned from Vegas’ casinos and nightclubs.

The reason? Because the youngster has not yet celebrated his 21st birthday – the legal age for drinking and gambling in Nevada.

Speaking about the trip on the Fearless in Devotion podcast, McElhenney said: “I did not gamble with any of the gentlemen. When they went into a casino, mummy and daddy (McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson, McElhenney’s wife) took their leave.”

Reynolds added: “Wasn’t it Max Cleworth who wasn’t old enough to enjoy the best bits of Vegas?”

McElhenney replied: “Yeah, sometimes he wasn’t allowed into places, and some of the guys would stay with him, and they’d find other things to do.”

Reynolds then joked: “He entered Vegas a boy, and he left a man.”

20-year-old Cleworth has been at the Welsh club since he was twelve. He made 24 appearances during the team’s promotion-winning season but unfortunately couldn’t celebrate with the rest of the team in Vegas.

Thankfully some players passed up on some of the wilder activities to keep company with Max. Maybe next year he’ll be able to let his hair down properly after yet another promotion.
