Rob McElhenney must have been on the verge of a heart attack, as Wrexham already partake in one of the games of the season against Swindon.

Elliot Lee’s stoppage-time goal saw Wrexham do the impossible and rescue a point in a 10-goal thriller. The Red Dragons were 4-1 down at half-time, so the last-gasp equaliser really did feel like a winner.

Fans definitely got their money’s worth at the Racecourse ground… we just hope no one left at half-time!

One man who certainly enjoyed was owner Rob McElhenney, who portrayed his whirlwind of emotions through a series of Tweets.

Rob McElhenney’s Tweets during 5-5 thriller

The Always Sunny in Philadelphia star was quiet all the way up until the equaliser went in but then unleashed a flurry of Tweets in sheer amazement at the footballing spectacle that had just occurred in front of him.

Never leave a Wrexham game. Very true. Two goals in injury time epitomise what the Red Dragons are all about, resilience, determination and the desire to never give up.

He then went on to make a joke in classic McElhenney fashion, almost poking fun at the Americans who won’t understand why this is such a fantastic point to achieve.

He also (potentially) teases the fact that a Wellcome to Wrexham Season 3 is already in the works. We wouldn’t be surprised.

He ended with a reply to Gary Lineker’s quote Tweet, which in a word summed up the emotions, the game and the all-round feelings of being a Wrexham supporter yesterday.

‘Blimey’… we couldn’t have put it better ourselves, Rob!

Who do Wrexham face next?

Wrexham make the trip to play Barrow on Saturday the 26th of August 2023 in League 2.

Let’s hope for an equally as exciting game… but this time a win!
