What Wrexham moment did Ryan Reynolds describe as his greatest ever?

On their way to a record-breaking campaign last term, Wrexham were promoted with a staggering 111 points.

In what was the greatest tussle in National League history, the Red Dragons went toe-to-toe with promotion rivals Notts County for a place in League Two.

There was one fixture that defined their whole season and will stick out as a moment supporters will never forget.

This was April’s showdown with Notts County. Wrexham arrived into the fixture behind their rivals on goal difference with only four matches left of the season to play.

Given there is only one automatic promotion spot up for grabs in the National League, the ramifications of the fixture were huge as both sides knew that a victory would push them one step closer to promotion.

Wrexham would prevail 3-2 winners, coming out on top of a pulsating five-goal thriller, but there was one moment that proved pivotal in securing all three points.

In a dramatic end to an incredible match, the visitors were handed the chance to equalise from the spot in the 97th minute, but upstepped Ben Foster who was at full stretch to deny Cedwyn Scott.

Speaking on the Yours Mine Away Podcast, hosted by Wrexham keeper Mark Howard, Reynolds described that moment as one of his greatest ever.

He said: “One of the greatest moments of my life was due to a last-second save. That’s the moment.”

More moments of Wrexham joy to come

After witnessing a title win last term, Wrexham have established themselves among the pack of clubs chasing promotion out of League Two.

Although their form has dropped recently, losing three of their last five league matches, Phil Parkinson’s side are only a point behind third-place Barrow with two games in hand.

In the final months of the season, Reynolds can brace himself for more incredible drama to come as they aim to win promotion to League One.

If that does happen, it will be interesting to see whether it would trump Foster’s penalty save on his list of greatest-ever moments.
