Ryan Reynolds has issued an ‘inspiring’ statement after Wrexham clinched promotion to League One.
After achieving back-to-back promotions for the first time in their history, Wrexham are currently planning for life back in League One.
It’s been almost two decades since the Welsh side played football at this level, but excitement and anticipation is brewing as Phil Parkinson aims to kick their transfer window off with a bang.
Unsurprisingly, the Reds have already been linked with a host of players – including Wigan Athletic trio Tom Pearce, Stephen Humphrys and Josh Magnennis – while departing Blackpool defender Marvin Ekpiteta is also on their radar.
While Wrexham are gearing up for another promotion challenge next season, Ryan Reynolds has reflected on the achievement of his side escaping League Two at the first time of asking.
Despite boasting the biggest budget in the division, Reynolds has still summed up the moment beautifully.

Reynolds is a Hollywood superstar, known for his roles as Deadpool and Paul Grand in the 2010 film Buried.
Yet, when comparing his success as an actor to Wrexham’s achievements, he’s placed their most recent promotion as the ‘most inspiring’ thing he’s been a part of, which is a testament to how much he adores the football club.
Speaking on the TODAYshow, the 47-year-old said: “Wrexham just got promoted again, which is amazing because everyone freaks because if you don’t even root for Rob and I, that town is impossible to not root for.
“Wrexham is the most wonderful city, and it’s just the way this club has transformed that town; it’s probably the most inspiring, most beautiful thing I’ve ever been lucky to be apart of.”
Wrexham can make history next season
Reynolds doesn’t just want to settle for consecutive promotions as the Hollywood owner is eyeing up a third promotion next season.
He’s expected to arm Parkinson with a huge budget to improve his squad and has claimed he’ll do whatever it takes to reach the Championship.
Jermaine Pennant believes the second tier is the furthest Wrexham will go while executive director Humphrey Ker would be satisfied with a top 10 finish.
But this is what sets Reynolds and Rob McElhenney apart from the rest; their capacity to dream big when others don’t believe it is possible.
Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Wrexham were in contention next April, perhaps with an opportunity to become the first to achieve three promotions on the spin.
That would surely be the greatest achievement English football has ever witnessed, at least lower down the pyramid.
