Rob McElhenney has today confirmed that Wrexham’s temporary stand at the Racecourse Ground will now be sponsored by Four Walls.
As part of the plans to rejuvenate Wrexham’s famous home, The Kop has been the centre of attention.
Closed on safety grounds more than 15 years ago, The Kop was knocked down last year ahead of a complete rebuild.
Wrexham have though put up a temporary stand and it was opened back in December, housing more than 2000 extra fans.
Well, that temporary stand now has a new name – and it has been announced in classic Wrexham fashion.
Ryan Reynolds reacts to Rob McElhenney announcement
Co-owner Rob McElhenney has posted a video alongside Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-stars Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton.
The trio not only share a TV show but also a whiskey brand by the name ‘Four Walls’.
Wrexham had previously announced in October that Four Walls would be sponsoring the sleeves of Wrexham’s trainingwear.
In this latest video, McElhenney apologises after showing Wrexham players with the sleeves taken off their training gear, meaning Four Walls wasn’t on show.
As an apology, McElhenney then announces that Wrexham’s temporary stand will be called ‘The Four Walls 4th Wall’.
That news delights Day and Howerton until they realise that it’s only a temporary sponsorship rather than a long-lasting deal.
It’s all tongue-in-cheek but the news is true – Four Walls will now sponsor the temporary stand moving forward.
McElhenney’s co-owner Ryan Reynolds has responded to the news with something of a tongue-twister.
‘Would christening the fourth wall with Four Walls break the fourth wall?’ said Reynolds, leaving fans amused and even asking for free shots of Four Walls at future Wrexham games.
That probably won’t be happening but it’s another positive sponsorship deal for Wrexham, following on from TikTok and SToK Cold Brew with McElhenney and Reynolds bringing real eyes on Wrexham.
