Wrexham director, Shaun Harvey has now opened up about the new Kop Stand and when it could potentially start construction.

The attendance at The Racecourse this season have only gotten better and better following the addition of the temporary Kop.

This has been a great reason behind the form of Phil Parkinson’s side which has seen them fly up the League Two table. The Reds have registered the best home form in the whole 92 which has been the backbone to their performances.

There have been some great showings in North Wales which fans have become accustomed to over recent months. From a hard-fought 2-0 win against Wimbledon to thrashings of Barrow, there is plenty to be positive about.

Given that they had played without a Kop stand for many months, this record is made all the more impressive. Now an update has been discussed regarding the construction of the new stand.

Shaun Harvey offers Kop update

If you watched ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ you would have seen just how close a fund came to starting the build of the Kop. This money never came in and it never started.

As a result, the site of the Kop Stand sat empty for many months. There were some iconic moments such as Ben Foster’s penalty save but they were on a backdrop of a construction site.

In recent weeks a temporary stand has been erected which has allowed for some record Wrexham attendances in League Two.

Now in an interview with Leader Live, Shaun Harvey has suggested that there is no target date for construction yet.

On that, he said: “I think we learnt a very important lesson and that was committing to a date. We did it in good faith at the time because that’s when we hoped we could get there.

“The levelling up fund bid didn’t work, we’ve had to go down different avenues and are still progressing those avenues. We are going to stop short of a new date but just reaffirm the commitment to increasing the capacity as quickly as possible.”

There have been many complications to this story whether it be missing out on funding to issues with the council. This hasn’t been a straightforward journey by any means.

It is clear that Harvey is trying to temper the expectations of fans who are looking for some detail regarding the new stand.

All fans will be hopeful that this new stand can be opened soon. With any luck Wrexham might be in a higher division once again.
