Wrexham hattrick hero, Steven Fletcher has opened up about him joining the Reds over the summer. He has cited Ryan Reynolds as one of the main reasons behind his move.
It has been a difficult start to life at Wrexham for Steven Fletcher as he suffered a long-term injury early on.
Since his return, Phil Parkinson has put his trust in the former Premier League forward and that has paid off.
Against Barrow, the Scotsman scored his first hattrick in English football as the Reds secured a terrific 4-1 comeback win.

These were his third, fourth and fifth League Two goals for Wrexham following his free transfer over the summer. Now he has revealed his reasoning behind his surprise summer move.
Steven Fletcher couldn’t reject Ryan Reynolds
Following his release from Dundee United at the end of last season, it may have come as a shock to some fans to see him move to the Reds.
Speaking with the BBC, Fletcher has now admitted that the Wrexham co-owners played a part in bringing him to The Racecourse.
On that, he said: “Obviously, when Ryan called me it did help, I’m not going to lie. It’s Ryan Reynolds, how could you say no?
“I had the conversation, it was quite short to be honest with you. It was just ‘We’d love to have you here and be a part of the club’. I had already made up my mind to be honest, but it did give me a little confidence boost to say ‘yeah, go on then'”
It appeared that at 36-years old, a move back down South away from his home country was unlikely. No matter if that was the case, he made the move to Wales. This came as a dilemma to Fletcher to decide on a transfer.
Discussing that, he added: “I needed something to give me a bit of a buzz because I’m not going to lie, after last season, it was a tough season. I was thinking do I want to go back? I moved my family back to Scotland and it was one of those things where I was thinking do I hang up now and spend a bit of family time?
“When this call came, I think my wife could see a little buzz in me and she said ‘I can see you want to go and do this’. I thought, you know what, ‘I’m going to go for it’.”
It is safe to say, with the last game in mind, the signing of Fletcher has paid off. His experience and goalscoring talents, he will positively impact Wrexham this season.
