Wrexham star, Paul Mullin admitted that the playing surface against Mansfield Town was far from ideal in spite of a 2-1 FA Cup win.
In the first round of the FA Cup proper, Wrexham travelled to face Mansfield Town. The weather conditions were far from ideal.
With that being said, Phil Parkinson’s side were able to secure their place in the next round with a win in the rain.
The Reds took the lead through a superb Sam Dalby goal as he smashed his strike into the roof of the net.
The tie was all but secured when Mullin scored with a precise finish to double their advantage.

Rhys Oates scored a great goal to bring the hosts back into the game but they couldn’t find an equaliser.
Despite the win, the playing surface played its part on the game throughout.
What has Paul Mullin said?
Yet another goal for the Welshman was well deserved. He helped to secure a place in the hat for round two.
Last season the Dragons had a great FA Cup run and they will be looking forward to doing the same again.
Speaking with Sgorio, Mullin expressed his happiness with the performance: “I thought the football we played tonight was magnificent at times.
“We moved the ball really well and created space, especially for Dalby’s goal.”
With that being said, there was the obvious issue that the pitch brought to the game. This wasn’t used as an excuse by the Reds as they got on with it on the day.
Discussing the conditions, Mullin added: “The pitch was really difficult tonight, we knew that going into it. It looked like it was a little bit waterlogged. It looked like we were going swimming at times.
“The pitch made it difficult but we didn’t let that affect us tonight.”
Coming away with the result, in spite of the pitch, was exactly what needed to be done. It hasn’t been used as an excuse by any means.
The pitch was poor but given the weather, there wasn’t much to be done. Wrexham came, dealt with it and moved on in the cup.
