Wrexham’s top scorer, Elliot Lee has admitted goals and assists are a bonus as long as the team are performing well.
It has been a great start to the season for Wrexham and there have been several standout performances so far.
In his time at the club, Phil Parkinson has made many top signings from Paul Mullin to Ben Tozer.
It must be said that Elliot Lee has been one of the success stories. The midfielder signed on a free transfer last summer and has gone on to be a fan favourite.
Last season he scored 12 goals as the Reds were promoted to League Two.
What has Elliot Lee said?
In terms of goal involvements, Lee has as many this season as he did in the whole of the promotion campaign.
With that being said, he doesn’t seem too fussed about personal accolades.
Speaking to Leader Live, Lee showed this, saying: “I just want to keep putting the performances in on the pitch and keep winning for the team.
“It is a bonus if the goals and assists come. As long as we are winning, I am happy.”
The Red Dragons currently find themselves in third place. This represents a great start to life back in the Football League.
Although this may be the case. Lee isn’t happy with it just yet: “We don’t believe that we are at our top level.
“We think we have got a lot of improving to do.”
Some may see this as pompous behaviour from the Englishman but it just goes to show the elite mentality at the club.
Adding to his previous statement, Lee said: “That is not arrogance, that is just knowing how good we can be.”
Ironically, the Reds are level on points with Notts County in League Two and they will hope to leave them behind.
