Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer boasts a pretty incredible record.

We saw Wrexham beat Accrington Stanley 4-0 on Saturday afternoon with Ollie Palmer returning to the starting XI.

Palmer was back up top with Paul Mullin and the pair rekindled their partnership with great effect.

Mullin smashed a hat-trick to help Wrexham record a huge victory, with fans no doubt loving seeing him back up front alongside Palmer.

Palmer’s minutes have been limited since the end of November, but his record in a Wrexham shirt suggests that he either has a huge influence, or is something of a lucky charm.

Ollie Palmer’s record at Wrexham

Wrexham completed a club-record deal for Palmer in January 2022, splashing around £300,000 to lure him from AFC Wimbledon.

An experienced target man with plenty of EFL experience under his belt, Palmer felt like a massive signing at the time and his impact has been huge.

Palmer hit 17 league goals last season, helping Wrexham win promotion whilst thriving alongside Mullin.

His wider record in a Wrexham shirt is pretty remarkable though, as he has very rarely tasted defeat during his time at the Racecourse.

A post from Wrexham fan Simon Johnson on social media highlighted that Palmer has started 80 games in a Wrexham shirt – and lost only six.

The post also shows that Palmer hasn’t lost a single game whilst being in the starting lineup this season.

We have dug through the stats and that seems to check out; Palmer was on the bench for defeats to MK Dons, Stockport County, Accrington Stanley and Newport County in the league, as well as Blackburn Rovers and Bradford City in cup competitions.

Palmer wasn’t involved at all in defeats to Walsall, Salford City, Bradford City and Gillingham, so maybe we shouldn’t have been surprised when his inclusion against Accrington resulted in a thumping win.

Palmer lost twice as a starter last season, against Chesterfield and Notts County, but came off the bench in the 3-1 loss at Halifax Town and in the FA Cup defeat to Sheffield United.

Going back even further, Palmer lost four times as a starter in the 2021-22 campaign, falling to Dagenham and Redbridge, Woking, Torquay United, as well as the infamous play-off defeat to Grimsby Town.

That number of six defeats as a starter since joining Wrexham is pretty incredible and Palmer would no doubt love to keep starting games and ultimately fire Wrexham to promotion.

After all, Palmer doesn’t really do losing games at Wrexham.
