Tranmere Rovers boss Nigel Adkins has called Wrexham a ‘land of giants’ following Saturday’s clash between the two sides.
If ever there was a time for Wrexham to turn up, it was Saturday.
Promotion on the mind, rivals in town, just days after a frustrating 0-0 draw against Harrogate Town… Wrexham needed to show up.
Instead, we saw another fairly drab display as Wrexham again failed to find the cutting edge.
Yet whilst Wrexham took a point against Harrogate, this was a different story as Luke Norris scored what proved to be an early winner for Tranmere.
Wrexham just couldn’t find the killer moment and ended the week with just one point from two home games – not the kind of form we want to see in a promotion push.

Wrexham are still in a strong position to get promoted but there can’t be many more slip-ups now.
Phil Parkinson’s men are locked on 67 points, level with second-placed Stockport County and fourth-placed MK Dons.
Wrexham have to get up and go again after Saturday’s defeat and Tranmere boss Nigel Adkins seemingly believes that Wrexham will get over the line.
Speaking to Tranmere’s official YouTube channel after Saturday’s game, Adkins suggested that Wrexham ‘are going to get promoted’.
Cynics may suggest that Adkins is just talking up his own victory or attempting to put a little bit of pressure on Wrexham given the rivalry between the two clubs.
Adkins seems confident that Wrexham will go up though, adding that the STōK Cae Ras pitch was ‘exceptional’.
Adkins did though note that Wrexham are a ‘land of giants’ and expected direct play all day long, praising his players for dealing with the danger.
“They’ve made substitutions, five substitutions, they were a land of giants, we knew they would be and set pieces were always going to be a threat but the lad defended them ever so well and kept a clean sheet,” said Adkins.
“Wrexham are going to get promoted and we’ve had to come away from home on an exceptional pitch, and we’ve come away with three points,” he added.
Not many teams come to the STōK Cae Ras and leave with three points, and we can only hope that Saturday’s defeat doesn’t bring more home problems for Wrexham.
