Wrexham fans are dreaming of another promotion under Phil Parkinson but must wait until next weekend for the clash with Exeter City.
Wrexham beat Stockport County 1-0 on Saturday afternoon to reclaim second place in the League One table.
Jay Rodriguez’s goal, a rebound from his saved spot kick, was enough for the victory though Stockport were left furious with the penalty.
Wrexham’s focus will switch over to facing Exeter City this weekend, another huge game in the race for promotion.
Fans may pass the time by watching international action such as Wales’ trip to face North Macedonia in Skopje on Tuesday.
There is another option though, as the Baller League begins on Monday night, potentially attracting Wrexham fans in the process.
Baller League explained
At its core, the Baller League is a six-a-side indoor competition which originally gained success in Germany thanks to backing from Mats Hummels and Lukas Podolski.
The format is now heading to the UK with action getting underway at Copper Box Arena in London on Monday night.
Big names are involved; Gary Lineker, John Terry and Luis Figo are all managers alongside Micah Richards, Alan Shearer, Maya Jama, Robert Pires, Freddie Ljungberg and Ian Wright.
As noted by BBC Sport, players involved will earn £400 per game, and the competition will last 11 weeks with a number of rules changed for entertainment – such as MLS-style penalties from the 1990’s.
YouTube superstar KSI will be president of the league and Sky Sports will show every night live, such is the hype around the start of this new venture.
Notable players are involved too; the likes of Bakary Sako, Jordon Ibe, Adrian Mariappa, Michael Hector and Henri Lansbury are among those signed up to play.
Former Wrexham pair James Caton and Dominic Vose set for Baller League action
This may not be for every fan out there but a couple of former Wrexham players have agreed to play in the Baller League.
James Caton spent time on loan at Wrexham during the 2015-16 season, joining from Shrewsbury Town.
The winger played just four times for Wrexham before turning out for Southport, Darlington, Hereford and Bamber Bridge among others.
Now 31, Caton has celebrated his arrival in the Baller League (above) and will play for MVPs United – managed by Maya Jama and Alisha Lehmann.
Caton played alongside Dominic Vose at Wrexham, with the former West Ham United talent enjoying a little more success.
Vose scored 11 goals in 31 games during one season at Wrexham before moving on to Scunthorpe United.
Vose has moved around a lot over the years, featuring for teams such as Bromley, Chester, Dulwich Hamlet, Hastings United and Carshalton Athletic.
Now set to play for Team Santan, coached by rapper Dave, Vose will come up against Figo’s Trebol FC, who boast former Premier League defender Ciaran Clark in their side.
The days of Caton and Vose turning out for Wrexham are long gone and ultimately a distant memory given the incredible rise under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.
The pair are taking an interesting step in their careers though and many Wrexham fans may fancy tuning in to see how they fare in this new six-a-side league.
