Wrexham striker, Ollie Palmer has opened up about the impact that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have had on the club since becoming owners.

The change in fortune that Wrexham have seen in recent years has been nothing short of amazing for everyone involved.

A big part of this is the work that Phil Parkinson has done with the team on the pitch. He has played a big role as the Reds earned promotion from the National League.

Now they occupy second place in League Two and are just two points off Stockport County who are sitting top.

This has all been made possible by the positive impact of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and their ownership.

Since coming in through the doors at The Racecourse things have just gotten better. Now Ollie Palmer has opened up about the improvements that go unnoticed behind the scenes.

Palmer on Reynolds and McElhenney’s impact

With the release of ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ over recent years, there has been a look into hidden elements of the club. These are the kind of things that fans wouldn’t typically hear about or see.

Whether this be meetings about kits or even finances, the documentary series was certainly enjoyable to watch.

With that being said, it now appears that there are certain things not included which have gone under the radar.

Speaking on the Men in Blazers podcast, Palmer has offered a behind-the-scenes look at all the good the owners do.

On that, he said: “Before, the youth team and academy used to wear their kit and had to hand it back and kind of sharing and borrowing. The owners actually bought the whole academy in each age group a kit each. It’s just things like that people don’t know about.

“They changed the infrastructure of the football club and are running it like a top-level football club. That’s justice to everyone in this community.”

These little things go a long way to endear yourself to a fanbase and there is no doubt Reynolds and McElhenney have done. Palmer went on to praise the impact the duo have had on the fan base.

He added: “It is followed like a Championship club, just because it’s limited with the size of the stadium, but ultimately we are followed like a Premier League team.

“The away support we’ve got is incredible. Home and away, full house week in, week out and it’s only right the club is run how it is. They have done an unbelievable job behind the scenes. It’s a great place to go into work.”

It is a great time to be a fan of Wrexham and the positivity coming from the players is great to hear.
