Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have turned Wrexham into worldwide news, growing the profile of the club off the pitch.
It’s not all about documentaries, adverts and big sponsorship deals though as Wrexham also have to get the job done on the pitch.
That side of the project is going well too, with Wrexham completing back-to-back promotions on Saturday afternoon.
The 6-0 thrashing of Forest Green Rovers booked Wrexham’s place in League One as the club takes another huge step forward.
The acceleration of the club has been incredible to watch in the last few years and we can imagine that McElhenney and Reynolds will not be putting a ceiling on the club’s progression.
Consolidating in League One before aiming higher sounds like the best plan for Wrexham right now but some big summer singings will have fans dreaming of a third promotion in a row.
Hal Robson-Kanu on Wrexham
Wrexham’s rise has attracted attention all over the world and one former Wales international has now shared his view.
Wales fans will remember Hal Robson-Kanu, especially for his stunning goal against Belgium at Euro 2016.
The 34-year-old was a regular for Reading and West Bromwich Albion and even offered to play for Wrexham in 2023.
No deal materialised though and Robson-Kanu is now considered to be retired and has turned his hand to creating turmeric shots.
Robson-Kanu has now taken to social media to comment on Wrexham’s promotion and the work of both McElhenney and Reynolds.
Robson-Kanu called Wrexham’s progress ‘insane’, highlighting the sponsorship deals, revenue increase and social media impact for the club.
Of course, the back-to-back promotions were mentioned too, but Robson-Kanu has been blown away by the off-field work of McElhenny and Reynolds.
Wrexham face biggest jump yet
Wrexham recruited brilliantly in the National League and were able to sign players who could make an impact at League Two level.
Paul Mullin, Elliot Lee, Ollie Palmer and Andy Cannon spring to mind, as well as veteran duo James McClean and Steven Fletcher.
The challenge now is for Wrexham to find League One players who can help the club settle down and avoid dropping back to League Two.
Yes, a third promotion in a row would be fantastic.
That is a big ask in League One though with some huge clubs already in the league and big sides potentially coming down from the Championship.
Consolidation will be key and work will surely start soon as Wrexham look to add more quality to Phil Parkinson’s squad.
