Who is Paul Mullin? A look into the life of Wrexham’s clinical talisman

Paul Mullin is a professional footballer who currently plays as a forward for Wrexham AFC.

When Mullin joined the Red Dragons in 2021, he probably couldn’t have imagined how drastically his life was set to alter.

When was Paul Mullin born?

Mullin was born on April 9, 1995, in Liverpool, England. Growing up in the North of England, he is a product of the Everton, Liverpool, and Huddersfield Town academies.

Mullin is approximately 5 feet 11 inches (1.77 m) tall. Despite not being a man mountain of a striker, he is still more than handy in the air – which has contributed to many of his strikes around the Racecourse Ground.

Mullin is an out-and-out forward, often playing alongside a strike partner at Wrexham. He is one of the club’s most prolific ever goalscorers, already amassing over 100 during his time at the club.

How much did Wrexham pay for Paul Mullin?

Wrexham paid absolutely nothing for the forward. He joined on a free from Cambridge United in the summer of 2021.

Upon signing, Mullin told club Wrexham media: “The ambition of the Club attracted me here. Rob McElhenney gave me a call a couple of nights ago – at that time, I wasn’t too sure about making the move – but once he outlined the plans for the Club and the plans for me in the future, it was something I really wanted to be a part of and something that just excited me that much that I had to come.”

Mullin is contracted to The Racecourse until the summer of 2027. According to Wales Online, Mullin earn a reported wage of approximately £4,500 per week, which is a salary of £234,000.

Is Paul Mullin in Deadpool?

Having been the first big-name signing at Wrexham, it only felt right for Ryan Reynolds to repay the faith placed into the project by Paul Mullin.

As a result, the striker was a surprise extra in the film “Deadpool & Wolverine”, which came out in 2024.

The character known as “Welshpool”, a variant of Reynolds’ own character Deadpool, shows up during one of the scenes.

Underneath the mask and padded suit is, in fact, Mullin, who has become something of a cult hero at the club.
