Wrexham stopped the rot by beating Sutton United 2-1 on Tuesday night and now centre-back Will Boyle has fired a message to supporters ahead of Saturday’s clash against Notts County.
On his return to the side last night following suspension, Wrexham defender Will Boyle marked the occasion by scoring after earning his opportunity to start through extra work in training.
The 28-year-old has netted three times in 15 League Two appearances this term but his latest goal was the most important.
After Wrexham lost three consecutive league matches, it was so important that three points were secured last night and although they made hard work of it, Elliot Lee’s 85th-minute winner gave Phil Parkinson a huge sigh of relief.
It meant that the Reds kept the pressure on third-place Crewe Alexandra while giving themselves a much-needed confidence boost ahead of Saturday’s clash against Notts County.
The two sides played out an intense rivalry in the National League last term as they fought tooth and nail for the title.
Wrexham ultimately prevailed in that battle, beating the Magpies in a five-goal thriller at the Racecourse Ground to give them the impetus to go on and win the league.
Boyle, who joined from Huddersfield Town in the summer, is aware of last season’s rivalry and has challenged supporters to get the place rocking.

Will Boyle sends a message to Wrexham supporters
Speaking to Wrexham’s official YouTube channel after last night’s win, Boyle said: “We know it’s a lot of away games so, it’s good for the spirit but we know we go again back to the Racecourse on Saturday and hopefully we can get that place rocking. There’s a lot of work still to do, but we know that was a good result for us.”
The inspired substitutions of Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin changed the game for Wrexham last night and helped take away three points, but their form on their travels hasn’t been great on a whole this term.
Parkinson’s men are 11th in the away form table with five wins from 15 matches, which is a run that needs to improve if they are to get promoted automatically.
As for their home form, it’s a completely different story. Wrexham boast the best record in the division on home soil having taken 35 points from a possible 45 available, although they did lose 1-0 against Bradford City last time out at the Racecourse.
The Reds will want to put that result behind them by denting Notts County’s promotion hopes and strengthening their own in the process.
