It has been a wonderful few years for Wrexham since Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds completed a takeover of the club, and their running of the club has reaped rewards on and off the pitch.

Wrexham are performing well under manager Phil Parkinson, having achieved promotion to League Two in style last season, and are aiming for another one this season.

Whilst the two actors are always involved when it comes to the commercial side of things, many may wonder how much they impact the footballing side, and Parkinson has now opened up on their impact on his decisions.

Parkinson praises Wrexham owners

Speaking to talkSPORT, Parkinson lifted the lid on his relationships with Rob and Ryan, and claimed that they take a massive interest in the finer details when it comes to the football itself.

“Very much so. Ryan is going to be over for quite a while in the next few months,” Parkinson stated when asked if the owners were involved.

“But Rob and Ryan are very interested in all the players we sign, what team we’re selecting, watch every single game from over in America.

“They’re really, really involved but not kind of involved in telling us what team to pick, or who to sign, they let us get on with it, which is great. They’re really enjoying being part of the club.”

Whilst it is always good when club owners take an active interest in events on the pitch, managers typically do not want them interfering with tactics or team selections.

Rob and Ryan have both been vocal in their support, and keep close to the team, occasionally speaking to the squad in the dressing room after games as shown in Welcome To Wrexham.

However, they do not interrupt Parkinson’s management of the squad, nor do they attempt to influence his selections, whilst also helping him bring in top-quality transfers.

Parkinson is clearly delighted with the way things are operating at Wrexham right now, and he will be eager to continue the good work all three of them have done at the club.
